Pick up from hotel.
Visit Mt Eden for a view of Auckland and the perfect place to see where the tour goes during the day.
Drive out through Blockhouse Bay, Green Bay and Titirangi to Arataki Visitor Centre, the gateway to the Waitakere Ranges Regional Park via Waiatarua, Swanson and Kumeu to the "black sand" of Muriwai Beach on the rugged West Coast to see the Gannet Colony where the birds nest between August and March.
Optional stop for morning coffee.
Continue back to Kumeu then through the rolling farmland of Riverhead, Coatesville and Dairy Flat onto State Highway 1 through the new tunnels to Warkworth. From Warkworth a short drive through to Matakana Wine Country stopping for lunch at Heron’s Flight Vineyard Restaurant and Winemakers Centre, overlooking the valleys of Matakana.
After lunch we visit Matakana Village, famous for its unique shops, theatres and Saturday Farmers' Market and Morris & James Pottery and Tileworks to see their range of hand crafted pots, wall art and sculptural pieces.
Travel back to Auckland on State Highway 1 crossing the Harbour Bridge and visiting city sights including Tamaki Drive and Paritai Drive, Auckland's most exclusive street. Through The Domain, home of the Auckland War Memorial Museum, down Parnell Road through Parnell Village renowned for its galleries, cafés and restaurants and then back to the Viaduct Basin in the City.
